Bempton Cliff / Flamborough

 Bempton Cliffs - Thornwick Bay - Linear Walk 01/05/5025

Lovely linear walk from RSPB Bempton to a cafe at Thornwick Bay.

There are lots of birds

And Cliffs

Thornwick Bay is glorious

The adjoining cove is inviting

With the three towers of Flamborough in the distance

And while mostly focused on the cliffs and the birds there were some great displays of wild flowers

Halifax

Halifax - Wakefield Gate - Shibden 11/04/2025

A walk from Halifax Station, to Beacon Hill, to Wakefield Gate (Aka Magna Via), to Shibden Hall (of Gentleman Jack fame) and then back to Halifax.

 Walk was a figure of 8, but for some reason a couple of rogue locations when we were at Shiben

Beacon Hill

Gives an excellent view of some of the main buildings in the centre of Halifax (Piece Hall, Minster, Town Hall and Market).  There were also great views up into the Pennines.

Magna Via aka Wakefield Gate

Shibden Hall

The walk then goes back up towards Beacon Hill passing a splendid airshaft for the railway tunnel on the way

The walk then turns right and down the hill back into Halifax on another section of the Magna Via(?) through woodland.

To be honest, I was really surprised by this walk.  The only section I was not keen on was the walk along the road from Magna Via to Shibden.

Newcastle

 More a wander round than a walk round Newcastle when I went up for a gig at the City Hall.

Harewood Circular

 Harewood Circular  10/04/25

This is a scenic walk around the edge of Harewood Gardens, free of entrance fees. The walk can be busy, but the number of walkers is regulated by the available parking.

 Starting from Wike Lane, the start of the walk has good views of the house in the distance.
